Room Taken Wins Gold Medal for Best Film at the 27th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival.

USA Comedy Jane Austen's Period Drama wins the Silver Medal and Alarms from France wins the Bronze Medal in Worldwide Audience Vote.

Room Taken, directed by TJ O'Grady-Peyton (Ireland), is the Gold Medal Winner of the 27th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. Room Taken a heart-warming tale about a homeless man who moves in with a blind woman who doesn't know he's there and a strange bond develops resonated with viewers around the world. Manhattan Short medal winners are selected by voters attending the festival in theatrical venues around the world.

Jane Austen's Period Drama, written and directed by Steve Pinder and Julia Aks (USA), won the Silver Medal. A comedy set in England 1813 in the middle of a long-awaited marriage proposal Miss Estrogenia Talbot gets her period. Her suitor, Mr. Dickley, mistakes the blood for an injury, and it soon becomes clear that his expensive education has missed a spot.

The Bronze Medal winner is Alarms, written and directed by Nicolas Panay (France) An action film about a construction worker who is diligently overseeing the completion of the tumultuous construction site under his responsibility, ensuring that progress doesn't come at the cost of safety.

The Best Actor Award goes to Thomas Coumans for his sensational performance as the Construction Worker in Alarms. The global audience has voted. Congratulations to all the winners!

OSCAR QUALIFYING RUN

MANHATTAN SHORT 2024 will run for one full week at a Cinema in the county of Los Angeles. This theater booking means every film selected as a FINALIST in the 2024 MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival will be eligible to enter the Oscar competition for 2025. MANHATTAN SHORT is now in compliance with the rules governing the Oscar Awards set forth by the Academy of Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences A.M.P.A.S.

Filmmakers have until midnight July 31st to submit their short film. There are no late deadlines. We accept all genres. Films must be 20 minutes and under (excluding credits).
